15th November 2011 - Service Announcement
Dear Customer,
We are contacting you today to provide you with an update on the future of ezVPS.co.uk and the services we provide.
ezVPS.co.uk has been providing low-cost hosting services to our customers for over three years. We initially started as a small website hosting a handful of people off a single server with 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive.
Over time, thanks to our high levels of uptime and great pricing, word of mouth has helped us gain additional customers and allowed us to expand our operation to two, and then three servers.
Unfortunately in recent months, the cost of running the servers in real terms has increased. In the billing month of November from our service provider, we had to take a personal hit of 62.5% of the cost of running the servers. This level is highly unsustainable.
With this and the increased workloads on our staff from commitments outside of ezVPS.co.uk, and we had to look seriously at the future of our service provision.
It is therefore with great sadness that we today announce the closure of ezVPS.co.uk at the end of December 2011.
All of our servers will lapse their renewal from the datacentre on the 1st January 2012. There will be no user access on or after this date.
We understand this is a stressful time of year for most people; however we felt it best to provide as much notice as possible so that alternative arrangements can be made.
Customers who have paid for services in advance beyond 1st January 2012 will receive pro-rata refunds from 31st December 2011 through until the renewal date. The amount will be advised to you by e-mail on or after the 5th December 2011. You may opt for a refund via PayPal or Bank Transfer (UK bank accounts only). Details will be provided in this e-mail.
If you currently have a domain purchased through us we will be contacting you to make arrangements to have this transferred over to your full control. This will not require any further payment and will not affect your domain settings.
Due to the setup of our servers we are unable to provide backup images of your VPS hard drive. As per our Terms of Service, ezVPS.co.uk is not responsible for user data stored on our servers so you should ensure you have complete backups of everything you need before access is removed. Due to the amount of data being transferred off our servers you may see degraded performance which we apologise for in advance.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or queries you may have. We anticipate support volumes to be significantly higher than usual so please bear with us. We will aim to respond to all queries within 48 hours.
